Heidi has an Artists Diploma in Opera Performance from the Vancouver Academy of Music with tenor David Meek, a Bachelor of Arts in Vocal Performance from Trinity Western University. In addition to performing, Heidi has been teaching and coaching other singers since 2001.
Since landing her first major role in the Vancouver Academy’s Summer Opera production of Massenet’s Cendrillon in 2005, Heidi has gone on to sing roles with Burnaby Lyric Opera, Opera Pro Cantanti, and Opera Appassionata. She has sung excerpts from many of operas favourite heroines including Violetta, Countess Almaviva, Fiordiligi, Tatiana, Donna Anna, Rosalinda, Die Marschallin, Aida, and Tosca. She also has to her credit the complete roles of Donna Elvira, Norma and Lady Billows, for which she received glowing reviews in the Vancouver Sun, The Province, and Opera Canada Magazine.
In the past few years, Heidi has sung in master classes given by renowned Canadian tenor Ben Heppner, Stuart Hamilton, David Shefsiek from Pacific Opera Victoria, and Joan Patenaude-Yarnell from the Manhattan School of Music. In 2008, Heidi was invited to Italy to sing and continue working with Ms. Patenaude-Yarnell at Centro Studi Lirica, during the Voce nel Montefeltro Festival, where she also worked with Gordon Ostrowski (Manhattan School of Music) and Maestro Ubaldo Fabbri.
In addition to the opera stage, Heidi has had success on the concert and Oratorio stages. She has performed numerous solo recitals and been a guest soloist for both the Trinity Western University and Columbia Bible College choirs. In 2006, as a soloist in Mendelssohn’s Elijah, she sang with “vocal beauty… in a reverent rendering of ‘Lord, Bow Thine Ear’ wherein the balance of volume, intensity and quality of sound was spot on”. Heidi has been engaged to sing across Canada and Europe and is working towards further opera endeavours both at home and abroad. Upcoming engagments include her debut in the role of Countess Almaviva in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro in Germany this Summer with the Lyric Opera Studio Weimar.
